What is ChiRunning®?
When you were a child, you didn't think about how you ran, but chances are, you ran more efficiently then than you do now. As teenagers and adults, we have been conditioned to run by pushing ourselves forward, to strengthen our muscles and use them for propulsion, and to "work hard" when we run. In contrast, a child runs much more effortlessly. ChiRunning changes the way you think about running from solely a fitness activity or sport to a practice like yoga or Pilates. When you practice ChiRunning, you use a process called "body sensing" that teaches you how to connect your awareness and attention with what's going on in your body. You can then learn to listen more carefully to what your body needs and interpret how to meet those needs.
As you learn the skills of ChiRunning, you will learn how to evaluate and apply them when necessary, making running into an ongoing opportunity for self-growth and development. I just had to share this with you. Another milestone today! I exceeded half marathon distance (greater than 22 kms.) on my run this morning. Feel great! I’m now up to seventeen eleven-minute intervals (ten minutes running/one minute walking). My next goal is to reach the 30 K mark.
